  1.                       OPHTHALMOMETER MAINTENANCE

  3. Bulb Replacement
  4.  
  5. The main maintenance is replacement of 
  6. the bulb which illuminates the mires.  
  7. The bulb is located under the instrument 
  8. just in front of the main pedestal toward 
  9. the patient.
  10.  
  11. Steps to replace bulb:
  12. 1. Start by rotating the body of the instrument about 45 degrees.  
  13. 2. Loosen the thumb screw which holds the lamp housing.  
  14. 3. Pull the bulb holder down. 
  15. 4. Depress the bulb and turn it counterclockwise to loosen the bulb &    
  16.     remove it.
  17.    -use a handerchief or other protection in case it breaks or is hot.
  18. 5. Replace the bulb being careful not to touch the bulb and getting finger prints on it.
  19.    -use a handkerchief or other protection
  20.    -oils from your hands will lessen the bulb life.
  21. 6. Put holder back and tighten thumb screw
